What are clear aligners?
Clear aligners are transparent plastic trays that gently move teeth over time. Each set of trays is worn for a specific duration, usually 1–2 weeks, before moving to the next set.
- Removable – take them out while eating, brushing and for short social events.
- Custom-made – designed from your digital scan and orthodontic plan.
- Series-based – a sequence of trays gradually moves your teeth to the planned position.
- Review-based – periodic in-clinic reviews ensure everything is on track.
Are aligners right for me?
- Mild to moderate crowding or spacing.
- Relapse after previous braces treatment.
- Certain bite corrections where jaw position is acceptable.
- Adults and older teens who can wear trays for the recommended hours per day.

Limitations of clear aligners.
- Severe crowding or rotations.
- Significant bite discrepancies or jaw corrections.
- Cases requiring very fine control of root positions.
- Patients who may not reliably wear trays 20–22 hours a day.
In such situations, braces may give more predictable outcomes. We will explain these differences clearly before you decide.
How long do clear aligners take?
While every case is unique, most aligner treatments fall in these broad ranges:
- Mild corrections: usually around 6–9 months.
- Moderate corrections: around 9–18 months.
- Complex cases: may require additional refinement trays or combined approaches.
Your digital plan will show an estimated number of trays and expected duration. We will also discuss how missed wear or lost trays can affect timelines.
